Rossi plans to ride at Sachsenring
Thursday 15 July 2010 - 07:13:52
The reigning World Champion intends to make his competitive return to action at this weekend’s eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, pending approval from the circuit’s Chief Medical Officer on Thursday.

Valentino Rossi will make his return to action at this weekend’s eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, provided he receives clearance on Thursday from the Chief Medical Officer at Sachsenring.

Just six weeks after suffering a fractured right tibia at Mugello the Italian rider’s Fiat Yamaha team confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the 31 year-old and his medical team have decided that after four races out he is now ready to make his comeback. Test rider Wataru Yoshikawa, who stood in for Rossi at the previous round in Catalunya, will be again be ready to take the Italian’s place if needed.

"I'm really excited that my doctors think I can ride this weekend,” said Rossi, who has completed two private tests in the last week – at Misano last Wednesday and at Brno on Monday – to assess his level of fitness and comfort. “Tomorrow I will see the medical officer and then we will have the final decision.”

He continued: “I felt good on the R1 but I know my M1 at the track is a different thing and it will be hard for me, but I miss my bike and my team and I want to try. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone and being back in the paddock; I was tired of being at home! Wataru will be there as well so if there is a problem he will ride my bike again."

Rossi’s Team Manager Davide Brivio added: "Valentino has made big effort to be ready to race in Sachsenring this weekend. He really wanted to be back riding his M1 as soon as he could and so he's worked hard to make his recovery as quick as possible. We expect him to take a couple of races to be up to speed and competitive at the top after his injury, but it's very nice to see him back with us."

New R1 wins MCN Bike of the year award
Monday 14 December 2009 - 10:34:32
An expert panel of judges headed by Marc Potter, the Editor of motorcycling’s weekly newspaper Motor Cycle News (MCN), announced the winner of the coveted MCN Bike of the Year award, the Yamaha YZF-R1. “It’sa no-brainer” said one judge; “You simply couldn’t give the award to any other bike” said another. The praise was without qualification and the decision unanimous.

Yamaha took a massive gamble when it launched the 2009 R1, altering the character of superbikes, abandoning the headline-grabbing horsepower war and asking riders to relearn how to get the best from their bike. But it worked. The crossplane-cranked R1 was a real risk but a genuine innovation, and one that’s been rewarded with championship wins the world over. In finding a way to innovate in a class that had become conservative as it approached the limits of conventional performance, Yamaha has set a powerful example to other manufacturers ? and inspired bike buyers to believe there’s life (lots of it) in the superbike class again’’.

In addition to the top honour, the Yamaha superbike also scooped the award for Best Sportsbike over 601cc and to top it all the economical and competitively priced Yamaha Vity was voted Best Scooter by the MCN judges. Yamaha’s Managing Director Andrew Smith said ‘‘The MCN awards are the real benchmark for our industry and we are delighted to scoop the “Major“ prize. They top a fantastic year for Yamaha with us achieving number one in the market, one British and no less than 5 World Championships in 2009. With a comprehensive range of scooter’s and motorcycles available to customers moving into 2010, we feel that we are in a very strong position to capitalise on these fantastic achievements and make a visit to a Yamaha Dealer a must!.’’

Spies confirmed Yamaha MotoGp 2010
Thursday 01 October 2009 - 18:32:00
As James Toseland is confirmed as team mate with Cal Crutchlow for WSB 2010 Sterilgarda Yamaha team, Ben Spies finally is also confirmed to replace James Toseland in the Monster Yamaha MotoGP team in 2010

There has been immense speculation, not least from MCN scaremongering without actual offical confirmation from Spies WSB team, of the move to Motogp. Now it is official. I have to say its the right move, in my own opinion, for both Ben and James. I think James will be bitterly dissappointed with his MotoGp season, but for me, at least he tried. It didnt work this time, so its back to what he knows. I just hope he gets back on track and along with Cal Crutchlow, do the British proud next season.

As for Ben? I think there will hopefully be some amazing racing to come in MotoGp next year. See who he gives a run for their money, and maybe the title?

Feel free to discuss in the forums
